Voices from the Circle →Words That Stayed With Us
Voices from the circle
The most powerful moments of the day — captured in the words of the men who led the conversation.
Let the child have an opportunity to observe what you're doing and let them ask questions. Those questions then lead to what we call "teaching moments". | Times have changed. If we can't grapple with the times, we lose the essence of parenting, and in that way, we lose our kids. | We've dropped the ball as men. From ages 0–5, the mother carries everything on her own, we're absent during the years that matter most.
If you've allocated yourself E150 for hobbies and you blow it within an hour, rest. You'll see them next month. That's where the discipline is. | There's a reason why gambling companies are targeting sports. That's where men are, and men pledge their allegiance to what they love the most. | A gambling company will always make money, not you. They don't care about your dreams, but they care about their profits. Just like a fisherman who draws fish with a worm, at the end of it all, his bucket is the one that gets filled, not the fish's.
If in doubt, avoid. | The law is always crosscutting, that's why it's important to have spaces where we can learn more about the laws that shape our everyday lives. | There is no excuse not to know the law.
•When we look at the saying "Men don't cry", we also have to remember that is how we were brought up. It's what we've seen and heard, and it becomes difficult to outgrow that.
Creating an intentional, safe space like this is exactly what men in our community need. | This space isn't about creating a trend or adding numbers. | We need men in society, but we need to redefine what that means.
The fear of being laughed at as a man, because you're reporting that your partner is abusing you, will not get you the help you need.
In gambling, there's only one rule: the house always wins. | Gents, after every payday, pay yourself first. Spoil yourself, do something nice, live a little, you've worked for it.

What is Lisango?
A circle built for real talk
Men carry a lot - silently. Lisango is the place where that changes. Not a lecture, not a seminar - a genuine, grounded gathering of men willing to sit in a circle and speak truthfully about their lives.
Rooted in the Swazi tradition of community dialogue, this event creates the container men rarely have: structured space for honest conversation about family, finances, mental wellbeing, and what it means to lead with integrity.
The goal is not just conversation - it is transformation. Every man who walks in carries something. Every man who walks out carries a little less alone.
"A safe space for men to speak honestly about what they carry - their struggles, their growth, their role in their families and communities."
The Lisango Vision
Four Foundations
The pillars of the circle
Every voice matters in the circle. Speaking your truth - without fear, without judgment - is where it begins.
Genuine listening is a skill and a gift. We listen not to respond, but to truly understand what another man is carrying.
There is always something new to absorb - from speakers, from peers, from the wisdom already in the room.
Growth is the whole point. To leave the circle a more aware, more accountable version of yourself.
Why This Matters
The numbers behind the silence
These are not statistics about weakness - they are an argument for community. The circle is the answer.
Over the past five years, four in every five suicide deaths in Eswatini were men. This is not a coincidence - it is a crisis of silence.
Eswatini Observer — April 2026
Most men carry their heaviest burdens alone - not by choice, but because no space was ever built for them.
Global men's mental health survey data
Men in structured group conversations reported measurably improved confidence in handling daily pressure.
Men's community dialogue research, Southern Africa
Financial stress is one of the biggest drivers of silence in men. Lisango opens the floor.
Financial wellbeing studies, SSA region
Silent struggle is not strength. It is a gap in the support systems men deserve to have.
WHO men's health data, adapted
Men embedded in regular community dialogue consistently report higher sense of purpose and role clarity.
Community engagement research, peer-reviewed
3 in 4 men who need support never reach for it. Lisango is the first step toward closing that gap.

What We Discussed
Real issues. Real conversations.
These are not abstract topics - they are the things men wrestle with every single day. The circle went there.
Confronting the emotional weight men carry and breaking the silence around seeking help and feeling deeply.
Practical conversations about money, responsibility, building stability, and redefining financial health for Swazi men.
An honest reckoning with GBV - its roots, its impact on families, and the role every man plays in ending it.
What kind of father, brother, son, and partner are we? Exploring the weight and beauty of being a man others look up to.
How men can use their position to lift others - driving equity, solidarity, and active contribution in their communities.
What does it mean to grow - personally, spiritually, practically? Defining what a fulfilled life looks like.
